The 101 Leaders InstituteProsperity Seminar Series” featured Patricia Fripp, CSP, CPAE on January 23, 2010 at the beautiful Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. Her topic was Presentation Skills and she Wowed the audience, as expected!

PFNEWC

The amazing Miss Fripp not only taught, but also practiced the techniques and strategies that have allowed her to reach the absolute top of the field of professional speaking. She is:

  • Past President of the National Speakers Association and its first female president,
  • a Certified Speaking Professional, CSP
  • an inductee into the Professional Speakers Hall of Fame, CPAE
  • a Cavett Award winner
  • a regular presenter on many of the most prestigious programs in the country
  • and a speech & sales presentation trainer to celebrities, politicians, and corporate executives around the world.
  • She has delivered thousands of speeches in every conceivable setting over a speaking career that spans more than thirty years.

Some of her key points, as remembered by the attendees, include:

Focus on what the audience will get, not on what you will tell them.

Reduce your “I” count, talk about them not about you.

Structure Frees you, it doesn’t “freeze” you. Organize your information into a logical flow.

Use your technology, don’t let it use you. Learn how to use PowerPoint and your other tools well.

The packed audience was engaged from beginning to end of this 3 hour program. Host Jim Cathcart, president of the 101 Leaders Institute and also a past president of the National Speakers Association, said, “I’ve known Patricia Fripp for over 30 years and, of the thousands of speakers I know NOBODY is a more dedicated student of their craft than Patricia. She is amazingly dedicated to learning: story telling, script writing, speech craft, stage techniques, choreography, voice control, writing techniques, comedy, acting and performance. There is no better presentation skills coach on Earth! And I defy you to prove me wrong.”

Our family would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

No matter what faith you embrace, this is a special time of year. Our family is Christian so the most appropriate greeting we can offer you is Merry Christmas. We sincerely hope that this Season of Holy Days is filled with happiness and peace for you and your family.

Here’s an idea to enhance the Holidays: Don’t keep score of anything (except sports of course.)

One of the great sources of frustration and tension is missed expectations. You wanted one outcome and got another. Far too often family members, employers, coworkers and friends silently “keep score” in their head and measure whether others are doing what they expected and hoped they would do. This leads to resentment and hard feelings.

Resolve that this year you will not keep score on anyone, not even yourself. Just savor the Season, enjoy the time with those you care about, take their greeting cards and messages to heart, appreciate their gifts and understand their errors or oversights. Decide today that you will be immune to hurt feelings this year.

Look for ways to personally be an enhancer of everyone else’s experience. Offer all the genuine compliments you can, sincerely thank people for all that they do, take time to fix problems yourself instead of just pointing them out to others. Start a wave of giving actions that go out to everyone you know and don’t know.  A compliment that is felt but not expressed is useless, let your compliments out for the world to see.

Be a force for good.

Thank you for all that you do to make this world a better place.

Dr. Terry Paulson, faculty member of 101 Leaders Institute and author of The Optimism Advantage, said the following were the “keepers” he captured while witnessing the astoundingly good presentation by Giovanni Livera on December 3rd at the Westlake Village Inn.

“No Change…No Change.

When someone says “NO” it doesn’t necessarily mean “NO” unless you believe it….Find a new way to ask.

Make your ceiling your floor. Get on top of your potential and reset to a higher level.

Reset fast. Make your New Year tomorrow!

See it in your imagination and write it down.

Be a creator and collector of experiences.

Someday is not a day of the week.”

I would add to that, “When you write your goals & dreams on paper, they are no longer just in your head. They are now in the world and will start to become a reality!”

Giovanni wowed us all with his joy, creativity, magic, wisdom and caring attitude. It’s impossible not to like this guy! Scott will be covering the vital ideas from his three recent bestsellers.

“Stand Out & Move Up While Your Competition Fails!”
Based upon Scott’s current #1 Amazon.com business bestseller, “Collapse of Distinction,” we will examine:
• The Three Destroyers of Differentiation — the aspects pulling you and your organization back to the pack, where you are indistinguishable from your competition and sales are centered upon having the cheapest price
• The Four Cornerstones of Distinction — the four elements that MUST be executed…and, in a particular order…that create separation from the competition, and move you to the forefront in your industry

“What Customers REALLY Want”
As Vice-Chairman of a multi-million dollar holding company owning nineteen diverse businesses, Scott surveyed customers, first of his own organizations — then, other household names — to discover what customers of ANY business REALLY want. We’ll learn:
• The Six Points ALL Customers REALLY Want
• What Organizations Offer — and, unfortunately, it’s different than what their clients crave!
• How to bridge the gap and eliminate the disconnections, so you create lifelong customer loyalty and profitability!

“ALL Business is Show Business!”
Customers and employees today expect and demand more than mere products, services, and jobs! They require an experience as a part of the package! Therefore, creating and delivering an “Ultimate Customer Experience” (TM) can make a significant difference for any professional and organization. We will discover:
• The importance of a personal and organizational “High Concept” and why it is more vital than your “elevator speech”
• The Power of Story — why you and your organizations should communicate to customers in compelling narratives
• Creating the “Ultimate Customer Experience” (TM) — the elements necessary to engage clients in a manner that keeps them coming back…and bringing the friends!

Your competition is desperately seeking ways to get the business that you don’t. They may be buying Scott’s books and trying to use these ideas before you do. Why not jump past the crowd and come learn directly from the author? Come and spend a few hours in direct conversation with Scott McKain, then take these ideas back and gain the competitive edge.

Jim Cathcart Full Bio

He has delivered more than 2,700 presentations to audiences in every state of the US, most provinces of Canada and countries from Scotland to Singapore. Two of his most recent international engagements were for thousands of business leaders in Bogota’, Colombia and Caracas, Venezuela!

A researcher and philosopher at heart, Jim is also a down to earth regular guy. He has worked in warehouses, driven trucks, sold donuts door to door, been a bank teller, played guitar in night clubs and beer pubs, and sold motorcycles.

Someone recently said, “Jim Cathcart is what ‘Fonzie’ would have been if he’d gone to business school.”

Jim was an insurance agent for many years, an Army officer and a bill collector who, while in his twenties, had to repossess log trucks in the mountains of northern Arkansas. From this varied background he decided in 1972 to become an authority on the subject of motivation and through decades of dedication and hard work, made it happen.

After hearing Earl Nightingale on the radio one day in 1972, Jim was inspired to change his life. While working as a government clerk in the Urban Renewal Agency he determined to learn psychology and master the process of self-improvement. Through years of fanatical dedication to this new quest he learned new skills, became a certified trainer for a variety of programs, read stacks of books, attended countless seminars and volunteered thousands of hours to civic organizations. Today he is listed in the professional Speaker Hall of Fame, is a recipient of the prestigious Golden Gavel Award (along with Earl Nightingale, Art Linkletter, Zig Ziglar and many others), has been the president of the National Speakers Association and received the Cavett Award for a lifetime of service. He has authored 14 books and scores of recorded programs.

In 2007 he was listed as one of The Top 100 Minds on Personal Development by Leadership Excellence magazine. The San Diego chapter of the National Speakers Association renamed their member of the year award “The Jim Cathcart Service Award” and the Greater Los Angeles chapter gave Jim the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. In 2008 he was inducted as one of the “Legends of the Speaking Profession.”

Jim Cathcart is an active motivational speaker and prolific author plus an executive coach to numerous high-achievers. In his personal time he plays Rock n Roll guitar, rides his motorcycle on the twistiest roads he can find and runs the trails of the mountains near his home at least twice each week. He’s a proud parent and grandparent and an active civic leader.

He serves on the board of advisors to the School of Business at both Pepperdine University and California Lutheran University. His messages can be seen on iLearningGlobal.tv and on TSTN.com.

Please join us on this call and tell others about it. Spread the word so that we can get more people to embrace an Abundance Mindset and get away from the Scarcity Thinking that takes away opportunity. Send the link to this email to those who would benefit from hearing it.

For those who want to keep this learning alive, please join us for the “Breakthrough to Prosperity” Seminar Series seven times a year here in the “101 Corridor”.

On Coach Ron Tunick’s radio show this past Thursday I spoke about the need for a concerted effort to “Revitalize Our Businesses.” He then asked me, “how do we do that?” My reply was, “Revitalize Yourself First!”

A business is simply a group of people involved in a common endeavor with the goal of serving others at a profit, so that it can be sustained over time. The business is not the things that it uses: locations, products, tools, systems. The business is the dealings between people.

So every business is the reflection of the attitudes, intellect, skills and actions of its people. If the leaders and sales people and those who deliver the services do not approach business optimistically and enthusiasticly then the business is guaranteed to suffer. Customers will feel it and go elsewhere, suppliers and supporters will lose their zeal to stay on your team and business will decline.

How do you revitalize yourself when the circumstances seem to only discourage and threaten you?

  1. Control what you think about and talk about.

  2. Choose who you spend your time with.

  3. Limit your exposure to the negatives.

  4. Commit to positive daily actions on things that matter.

Here are some vital premises that all of us need to keep in mind as we grow our organizations.

  • What you talk about is what you will think about. (Don’t dwell on the threats, Dwell on the solutions.)
  • Some people will only drag you down. (Limit your time with pessimists, Increase your time with optimists.)
  • Doing something constructive is the key to dissolving depression. (Psychiatrists will tell you that ANY positive action no matter how small is better than inaction or distraction.)
  • Certain skills and ways of thinking will pay off more than others. (Cultivate the vital skills in yourself and others. During challenging times INCREASE the amount of training you do.)

I’m doing my part to help the business community here in Los Angeles & Ventura Counties by bringing the top thought leaders, bestselling authors and hall of fame professional speakers to Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village. Every eight weeks I’ll be hosting a seminar by one of these speakers in a location adjacent to Highway 1o1. The first event is at Sherwood Country Club on Sept. 24th from 6:30pm to 9pm, featuring Dr. Tony Alessandra on “The Psychology of Persuasion”.

Here is the link to information on the full series. The Breakthrough to Prosperity Seminars.

Think of what you can do to expose yourself and your team to more positive uplifting input: web-casts, CDs, DVDs, podcasts, books, discussions, daily briefings, memos, posters, notes, theme-of-the-week, etc. How can you praise the good work of others today? What can you focus on that might inspire others to do likewise? What radio stations can you listen to that will lift you instead of scaring you? What newsletters, articles, or quotes could you share to inspire or inform people of the solutions instead of just the problems?

Join with me, Don Hutson, the members of Speakers Roundtable and others who have created The Breakthrough to Prosperity Seminar Series in various locations around the country. Let’s get ourselves Re-Vitalized and work together to spread the optimism, commitment and learning to everyone.

Thinking has to change before circumstances change.

Everyone is influenced from what they see, hear and talk about. So let’s look at, listen to and talk about the Solutions not the problems!

Call me at 805 777 3477 to enroll in this exciting series or email me at: info@101Leaders.com. You can also sign up online by simply clicking through from the seminar page on my website.
